Iyengar Level I/II

This class is a good option for confident beginners as well as more experienced students. We will cover a broad range of fundamental yoga poses in their basic shapes and actions, with further refinements as students are able, including standing poses, seated poses, twists, forward bends, backbends and inverted poses. Modifications are routinely given in this class to accommodate experience level and/or individual needs. Props may be used to highlight specific actions or areas, or for support. 

Iyengar Yoga starts from a solid base and builds from there, within each asana and across years of practice. Attention is paid to detail, whether it be in the particular placement of a foot or observing the state of your mind. The practice uses the vehicle of the body to sharpen attention and inner awareness, from which, as BKS Iyengar taught, stressful thought is drained away. 

For those joining virtually, it is helpful to have the following props: three/four blankets, two blocks, a strap, a chair (not necessarily a yoga chair- can be a regular folding chair or other household chair).
